Become An Adoptive ParentFoster/Adoptive Parent Application
Adoption is an important aspect of foster care as adoption provides a child with a permanent home and a sense of connectedness that comes with belonging to a family. The sense of uncertainty, that is often present in foster care, is removed through being matched with a parent(s) who are willing to love and care for them.
Foster parents currently comprise 59% of the adoptions that occur in the United States each year. The community of fost/adopt families include single and married individuals, committed same-sex partnerships, home owners, apartment renters, and families from all racial, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds.
With an increased emphasis on concurrent planning for foster children, there is an increased number of foster children becoming available for adoption. Children from all age groups ultimately become available for adoption, however, there is an increased need for adoptive homes for older children.
Prior to the finalization of an adoption, the prospective adoptive child resides with the prospective adoptive parents. This time allows for increased familiarity and a sense of trust to be established. The first step is to contact Concept 7™ to arrange an orientation where a detailed explanation of the process will be provided to you.
Why choose Concept 7™?
At Concept 7™ we understand that the decision to pursue an adoption may be filled with questions and concerns. We are here to offer support throughout this process while maintaining the child/children’s well-being as our paramount concern. Throughout the process, a Concept 7™ social worker will be available to assist in the transition and to provide ongoing support. Financial assistance is also available throughout the fost/adopt period and this financial assistance will continue after the finalization of the adoption. Furthermore, there is continued support available through Concept 7™ Adoptions Post Placement Services.
What a parent who adopted through the foster care system has to say:
“Bringing our adopted daughters into our lives was the best thing we have ever done. They are a great match to our family and I feel that I am so blessed to have had the chance to be their dad. People have told me that the girls are lucky to have us, but I know we are the lucky ones to have had the chance to have them”. -Alonzo (Adopted sisters in 2008)
