Goal: To reunite the children with their birth families where
possible, and if not, to provide a long-term, stable environment
for the children.
Seven Concepts:
- Rescue - from
a life of abuse and neglect
- Recognition
- that the child is indeed valued as a person
- Relationship
- the ability of the child to embrace and nurture
relationships with peers, siblings and adults
- Responsibility
- Learning to take responsibility for behavior without fearing
drastic consequences
- Respect - Feeling
of self-respect and self-esteem, with respect
for rules, others and society as a whole
- Resolution -
Resolution of the pain and suffering of the past,
without which a child can never heal
- Renewal
- Building blocks strengthen as time goes by, and
the child comes to know the renewing energy of love, care,
compassion and hope
Fact : Every day close to 1400 children
in the United States are placed in foster care. That's over
510,000 per year.
